Job Title: Platform Engineer

Avinode is looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Cloud Platform Engineering team on a permanent basis. Over the past year we’ve been on a modernisation streak, reducing our maintenance load to be able to grow the team’s responsibilities and the kind of projects we can sustainably undertake. We’ve recently fully rebuilt our PCI enviornment, and are now undertaking a project to finalise our transition to exclusively running containerised services.

The team you’ll join consists of 4 DevOps/Site Reliability/Platform Engineers, supported by an Engineering Manager with a background in Site Reliability Engineering. We operate a cloud-only environment and are responsible for its operation, availability, observability and security. Most of our systems are Linux-based and run Java applications. But for this position we’re looking for someone with experience supporting a .NET/C# and Windows application stack, or being an experienced .NET/C# developer with an affinity for platform engineering and cloud infrastructure.

What you’ll do

· You’ll support the team as we work through adopting, modernising and rebuilding this part of our cloud environment. This will involve:

· Ensuring the Windows environment remains in good shape, through practices like automated security patching, configuration management and good integration with our observability stack.

· Improving and simplifing our Continuous Integration systems and pipelines.

· Contributing to the applications to improve how they leverage current Azure services, or adopt new Azure services, to reduce the maintenance cost.

· Harmonising how we operate and maintain our Windows and Linux environments, adopting the same toolset and practices across both where feasible.

· Supporting the work to run these applications on a Linux-backed containerised stack.

· Contributing to the team’s roadmap, which will involve work related to security, observability and improving the developer experience.

Who you are

· You are a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer with 3+ years of experience supporting a .NET/C# and Windows stack for SaaS services. Or,

· You are a .NET/C# developer with 3+ years of experience, with an affinity for cloud infrastructure and at least a year of experience running and operating Windows systems to host SaaS services.

· You have worked with infrastructure in cloud environments before. We use Azure, but experience with AWS or GCP is welcome too.

· You’re familiar with tools like terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Azure Machine Configuration (or equivalent) etc.

· You have some familiarity with Linux systems and running containers.

· You have an interest in the security of our systems and infrastructure.

· You have a product mindset, seeing the infrastructure and our tooling as services we offer to other teams.

· You are self-driven and can figure things out on your own with some support from others.
